Roulette Lingo

Roulette is a very famous gambling game found in casinos all over the world. It is therefore inevitable that the roulette world comes up with a special language of its own. A beginner may sound like an expert in roulette if he or she studied and used any of these roulette terms:

Cage - this is the place where players buy more chips that they will use in games like roulette. Players may also replace their chips with money here. This is called as such because the cashier is inside a booth surrounded with bars. The bars are used to protect the cashier and the money inside the cage.

Capping a bet - this is a form of cheating used by some roulette players. This is how it works: the player bets a small amount, his bet has won, but right after the winning bet has been determined, he secretly adds more chips to his bet before collecting his price. Carre - this is a wager placed on the corner. By the way, this is a French word.

Casino Advantage - the edge of the casino over the roulette player, thus, it is more popularly known as the House Edge. Casino Host - this is the casino employee that sees to it that the most important and richest players are given special treatment. Roulette players who bet big amounts are treated very well by the casino hosts.

Chameleon Strategy - a strategy in roulette in which a player looks for another player who has been winning a lot. After he has found one, he would copy the bets made by that specific player. Chasing losses - this happens when the roulette player continues to play, or even raises his bets just to make up for the losses. This is considered to be a very poor strategy in any gambling game.

Check Rack - this is the tray that holds the chips used in games such as poker and roulette. Check racks are helpful in organizing the chips.

Checks - chips also go by the name of checks. But beware in using this term; this is not a common term for chips. In fact, only casino employees use this often. If you are winning a lot and you accidentally blurted this term out, people might accuse you of cheating.

Cheval - if you want to say "split bet", in a classier manner, then use the word cheval instead. People around you will be amazed at how knowledgeable you are in roulette.
